Wenzel Heating in Eagan, Minnesota selected Ronald Paul also from Eagan, as their 2016 Bryant Community Heroes winner. Ron has a deep love for his country and is a local hero to his neighbors, having served for the US Air Force. Below is the nomination that led Wenzel’s panel to select Ron as their 2016 Community Heroes recipient:
“On every military related holiday, Ron spends several hours fashioning a display of 400 miniature American Flags and signs he’s made in support of our military, reminding all who pass by that freedom isn’t free. This display is quite a job but not too big for Ron – he’s hoping to increase the display by adding an additional 200 flags to next year’s show.
Ron really appreciated the positive support the neighbors display as they drive by with a horn toot, wave and a shout out that they love the display. To his neighbors and passers-by, Ron is a community hero.
Ron himself is a veteran who served in the U. S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He is a humble and very likeable 70 year old man who still works and has a great love for God and Country. On September 24, 2016 the American Legion Eagan Post 594 Commander presented two Certificates of Appreciation to Ron Paul of Eagan for his Outstanding Americanism and Citizenship for his yard display of flags and homemade signs in support of our troops and country.
Ron’s story also appeared in the October 7, 2016 edition of the Sun This Week newspaper.
