2016 Winner Feature: Sara Kroll – Installed by Martens Heating & Mechanical

Martens_InstallMarten’s Heating & Mechanical of Omro, Wisconsin selected Sara Kroll of Oshkosh, Wisconsin as their 2016 Bryant Community Heroes winner. Nominated by the grandmother of a former student, Sara has dedicated her life to teaching, going above and beyond to serve her students and the community. Below is the nomination that led Marten’s panel to select Sara as their 2016 Community Heroes recipient:

“Sara was my grandson (Sheamus Payne) teacher last year. She teaches 2nd grade at Washington Elementary in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. what truly has made her stand out to me is the fact that she takes her profession not only as her job but it seems to be something she has dedicated her life to. Her commitment to her students is one of respect, and ready to challenge them to do better. she backs up this challenge by working with her students not only during school hours but also in the after school programs to make sure they have a full understanding of the work they did that day and do they understand what is required of them the next day. my grandson was behind in his reading proficiency at the beginning of the school year last year by the end of the year he was almost a full grade ahead in his reading. while my grandson spent his summer days with me I was shocked to see him reading and wanting to discuss what he read. you also see her impact on how she has affected her students by just watching her former students still come up to her years later and say hi and how are you. they genuinely want to greet her and know how she is doing and want to share their accomplishments as well. I think without realizing it she has contributed to our society by preparing our children to accomplish their goals and having them understand that they too also have a responsibility to take their education seriously. Not an easy task. when businesses are busy counting their assets Ms. Kroll is dealing personally with our greatest asset – our children. Teachers are our unsung heroes who rarely are recognized in their accomplishments. we as a society need to recognize those accomplishments whose dividends keep growing and make us stronger.”
