2016 Winner Feature: Pat & Kim Koss – Installed by Metro Air

Metro AirMetro Air of Prior Lake, Minnesota selected Pat & Kim Koss of Lakeville, Minnesota as their 2016 Bryant Community Heroes winner! Pat serves his country in the USAF and the Air National Guard, going overseas for combat tours and multiple deployments. They have huge hearts for other people and in Pat’s case, a strong desire to serve our nation in times of peril. Pat is known for his huge heart to help other military families and his leadership has been recognized by his senior military leadership in a very positive manner. This is a family that has sacrificed greatly for our nation with his resolve to serve where needed and whenever he has been asked to serve.
“Pat has been serving in the USAF for 13 years and has had three 6+ month combat tours with the 133rd USAF Air Wing in the past 6 years since he became full time Air National Guard. Pat is involved in direct support of flights hauling personnel and cargo to and from and around war zones. Pat has also had another 4 deployments for a month or longer to other parts of the world where the US military has been active in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia – all in the past 8 years with the 133rd Air Wing based at the Mpls. St Paul military air base adjacent to the MSP International Airport.

Pat is a Tech Sergeant and facing another deployment for 6 months this coming winter
and our Yellow Ribbon team assisted them 2 years ago when Pat was deployed by
helping them replace their Hot Water Heater with donated labor and parts. They are
worried about the furnace going out during Pat’s next deployment as you can imagine.
This is a family that has sacrificed greatly for our nation with his resolve to serve where
needed and whenever he has been asked to serve.

They live in a home built in 1992 with the original furnace. If they had to purchase a new furnace it would create significant financial difficulty for them as they have 3 teen age children with one that just began college this fall and another in her 2nd year in college and the third teen is a Junior at Lakeville North High School.

This new furnace would bring them great comfort and relief knowing the house
foundation is going to keep going while Pat is deployed again.

The family is active in volunteering with our Yellow Ribbon program and
supporting other families. They participate in Yellow Ribbon civic events
and they have huge hearts for other people and in Pat’s case a strong desire
to serve our nation in times of peril. Pat is known for his huge heart to help
other military families and his leadership has been recognized by his senior
military leadership in a very positive manner.”
